Your Specific Responsibilities:
The incumbent is responsible for working in multiple Environmental Health Programs and is expected to be highly organized to complete the work assignments. The incumbent, an employee of the Florida Department of Health in Pasco County, represents the agency and its mission and values.
Under the general supervision of the Environmental Management Team, performs independent professional environmental work by conducting inspections and investigations of all non-Food Service, Body Art, Tattooing Facilities and Onsite Sewage Treatment and Disposal System (OSTDS) programs.
Performs site inspections and re-inspections, investigates complaints, and prepares inspection reports accurately and within established timeframes for regulated establishments within the Bureau of Environmental Health facility programs such as (mobile home and recreational vehicle parks/camps, group care facilities, public and private schools, tanning facilities, and biomedical waste facilities) countywide to ensure compliance with the regulations of the Florida Statues, Florida Administrative Codes, County Ordinances and in accordance with Environmental Health Manual 150-4.
Performs site inspections and re-inspections, investigates complaints, and prepares inspection reports accurately and within established timeframes for regulated establishments within the Bureau of Environmental Health such as the water programs (public swimming pools and spas, coastal/fresh water beach monitoring (as needed), limited use water systems and Well Surveillance services (as needed) countywide to ensure compliance with the regulations of the Florida Statues, Florida Administrative Codes, County Ordinances and in accordance with Environmental Health Manual 150-4.
Conducts the Environmental Health Program in an assigned geographical area that requires frequent and extensive travel.

Completes paperwork to determine activities, leave and attendance, etc. May need to work before/after hours or weekends to conduct/complete work assignments. Performs other duties as required. This position will conduct the initial sanitary nuisance complaints and determine if further investigation or action is warranted; conduct service permit inspections, and assist clerical staff as needed.

Qualifications:
+

A bachelor's degree with a minimum of 30 semester hours or 40 quarter hours of class work in public health, environmental health, environmental science, or a physical or biological scienceis preferred but not required.
+

Must be proficient in computers, laptops, and Microsoft and other computer programs.
+

Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.

Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.

CONFIDENTIALITY

: Incumbent may have access to records containing Social Security numbers in the performance of their job duties.

Must be able to lift and pull 65 pounds of weight and carry 50 pounds of equipment.
+

Must be able to work out in the field in the Florida weather (hot, humid, wet, etc.) which may also require strenuous physical activity.

Must be able to provide own transportation if a state vehicle is not available and poses a Valid Florida Driver's License.
