OPS Facilities Services Specialist


This open competitive advertisement is for an OPS position located at Suwannee Correctional Institution in the Regional Maintenance Office.


The mission of Facilities Management and Building Construction at the Florida Department of Corrections is to provide a safe, secure, and efficient environment for staff, inmates, and visitors. This is achieved through the effective management, maintenance, and construction of correctional facilities, ensuring they meet all regulatory standards and support the department's overall mission of public safety and rehabilitation.


This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.


JOB DUTIES:


This position is located at Apalachee Correctional Institution in the Bureau of Facilities Management & Building Construction. The incumbent in this position will be responsible for the following: conducting on-site walkthroughs and visual inspections of roofs and building interiors and exteriors, locating inventory capital assets and cross-referencing field data with existing records, utilizing state-issued tablets to input information into AIM (Facility Force) including condition ratings, remaining useful life, and detailed photographic evidence of asset conditions, and providing cost estimated for the repair or replacement of deficient building components. This position will require extensive walking and climbing of ladders as well as traveling throughout the state.



  1. Facility Inspection and Assessment: Perform thorough walkthroughs and visual evaluations of building structures, including roofs, interiors, and exteriors.

  2. Asset Identification and Record Verification: Locate and verify capital assets, ensuring field data aligns with existing inventory documentation.

  3. Digital Data Entry and Reporting: Utilize state-issued tablets to document asset conditions, input ratings, and upload photographic evidence into AIM (Facility Force).

  4. Cost Analysis and Recommendation: Prepare and provide cost estimates for repairs or replacements of building components identified as deficient.

  5. Physical and Travel Requirements: Engage in extensive walking, ladder climbing, and statewide travel to complete inspection and assessment duties.

    • Employee Only: $25 biweekly

    • Spouse Program: $15 biweekly

    • Employee & Family: $90 biweekly.

  • Vision - FDC offers one single vision plan through Humana with monthly premiums as low as $5.92.

  • Life - FDC offers a $25,000 group term life insurance plan to eligible OPS staff through Securian at the low monthly premium of $3.78. When enrolled in basic life, employees may also elect child life and spouse life insurance plans.

  • Retirement - As an OPS employee, the Florida FICA Alternative Plan with Core bridge Financial affords you an excellent opportunity to help accumulate money for a secure retirement. You contribute 7.5% of your compensation to this tax deferred plan. All OPS employees are required to participate in this plan and are automatically enrolled.


 


REQUIREMENTS:



  • At least two (2) years of experience computer experience to include Microsoft Suite.

  • At least two (2) years of experience with analyzing data


Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
