The Work You Will Do:
OPS Government Operations Consultant II (Communications Specialist) (37970260)
DEP is seeking an enthusiastic, well-organized individual with strong writing skills and excellent customer service to assist in performing communication and outreach activities for the Division of Recreation and Parks (DRP) which includes Florida State Parks. As a leader in outdoor recreation, Florida State Parks span the entire state with 175 parks and trails. Promoting DRP's achievements through outreach, marketing and social media is critical to the overall success of Florida State Parks, the only state park system in the United States to be recognized four times with the gold medal award for excellence in recreation management. The DRP communications team this individual will join is charged with sharing the success and benefits of the system to various audiences through storytelling which focuses on the Florida State Park's Mission: "To provide resource-based recreation, while preserving, interpreting and restoring natural and cultural resources." This is in addition to supporting proactive communication on DRP's role in providing leadership for outdoor recreation in Florida. This position will schedule up to 40 hours per week.

Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for applying professional communications expertise to daily management of proactive and reactive communications activities for DRP and working with the DEP's Communications Office as part of the agency's communications team.??
One of the many responsibilities of the Communications Specialist is successfully promoting the achievements and benefits of the park system to various audiences by collecting, creating and developing positive stories for Florida State Parks and outdoor recreation in Florida. ? ?
The Communications Specialist will work on content including outreach assistance for communications plans, press releases, calendar announcements and media advisories and inquiries. This individual will coordinate work on brochures and other park publications. ?
This individual must be able to build and maintain positive relationships, provide clear communication and perform other duties as assigned.

Overnight and day travel is required for this position.?
