Optical Display RD Engineer

Description

• Hands-on LCOS optical testing, data collection using equipment like including optical detectors, oscilloscopes, microscopes, optical projectors, etc.
• Software programming to run optical simulations using raw data collected from optical testing.
• Ability to automate optical measurements to minimize manual data collection for maximum efficiency
• Work with Silicon Design team to understand detailed drive methodology for LCOS digital drive
• Work with Applications Engineering team to understand how to optimize drive for best image quality
• Work with LCOS Optical RD team to understand LCOS electro-optical operation and technology
• Develop improved liquid crystal driving methods used for projection applications (LCD, LCOS)
• Optical characterization of LCOS at low and high temperatures to fully understand and improve performance for more demanding applications such as automotive
• Submit Invention Disclosures to protect technology and solidify LCOS IP position

• M.S. or B.S with 5+ years of industry or related experience
• Ph.D. degree with related optics experience
• Experience programing in languages such as Matlab, Python, Mathematica, Julia to run automated simulations with large data sets
• Knowledge or experience in Optics and/or Liquid Crystal technologies (e.g. LCD, LCOS, etc.) including polarization optics
• Willing to do hands-on measurements in the lab, and detail oriented to ensure high quality data.  
• Eager to learn new technologies working directly with technical experts
