SYNOPTICS serves the photonics and optics industry across the globe. \n \nLearn more about SYNOPTICS at our website: https://www.northropgrumman.com/space/synoptics/.\n\nIn this job, you will:\n\n * Crystal fabrication to include blocking, grinding, beveling, polishing, measuring, and inspecting various materials and configurations per specification and production schedule. Tasks include: Choosing and preparing proper fixtures, and blocking parts for grinding and polishing, Operating CNC grinding machines as well as manual grinding, Preparing polishing slurries and maintaining laps, Measuring optical and geometrical properties, Visually inspecting surface quality under a microscope\n\n * Follow technical work instructions, understand engineering blueprints, and verify conformance to specification within given tolerances\n\n * Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area\n\n * Utilize the electronic Shop Floor Control system for data entry and scanning parts through applicable routing steps\n\n * Perform work in a manner complying with our ISO 9001 quality and EHS management systems.\n\n * Other duties as assigned\n\n\n\n\nBasic Qualifications:\n\n * High School diploma or equivalent and 0 years additional education and/or related experience. \n\n * No clearance required to start\n\n * Basic computer skills using Microsoft Excel and Word\n\n * Effective communication skills with peers, engineering and management are essential\n\n * Ability to communicate in English, verbally and written, in a technical environment\n\n * Manual dexterity, strong work ethic, ability to multitask, positive attitude and willingness to learn\n\n * Good visual acuity, strong basic math skills, and attention to detail.\n\n * Ability to use measurement equipment, work in metric or English units, read detailed instructions, interpret engineering prints, maintain written records, and keep an organized work environment using 5S principles\n\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n * Associate degree or two-year technical degree\n\n * Experience in a technical manufacturing environment including measuring production parts, interpreting process output, and troubleshooting\n\n * Experience in optical fabrication is strongly preferred, including experience with microscopes and mechanical or optical metrology equipment\n\n * Experience operating grinding, cutting, or polishing machinery (manual or CNC)\n\n\n\n\nHazardous Materials: Methanol, Xylene, Opaline, Acetone, Epoxy\n\nCurious about all the exciting developments with the Northrop Grumman Space Sector?
