We are Looking for: 

The Optician plays a vital role in our Eye Care Team by helping patients select and fit eyewear, interpreting prescriptions from optometrists and ophthalmologists, and ensuring a positive patient experience. This position requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and a passion for helping others see clearly.
 

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet and assist patients in selecting eyeglass frames and lenses based on prescriptions, lifestyle, and preferences
• Take precise measurements for pupillary distance (PD), segment height, and frame adjustments
• Place orders for lenses and frames, and follow up on timely delivery
• Adjust, repair, and fit eyewear upon patient pickup
• Educate patients on proper eyewear use and care
• Maintain inventory and display of frames and accessories
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and CLS Health standards for patient confidentiality and care
• Collaborate with physicians, optometrists, and clinic staff for seamless patient service
• Handle insurance verifications and billing related to optical services
• Perform preliminary testing (visual acuity, tonometry, auto-refraction, etc.)
• Obtain and record patient medical and ocular history
• Assist with contact lens training and insertion/removal education
• Perform visual field testing, OCT, retinal imaging, or other diagnostic tests
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and equipment
• Document findings in EHR accurately and promptly
• Support optometrist during exams as needed
• Order contact lenses and track shipments

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Certified Optician preferred
• 2+ years of experience as an Optician or in optical retail required
• Knowledge of optical principles, lenses, and eyewear styles
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Attention to detail and ability to multitask
• Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and optical systems a plus
