Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00-4:30pm

Please note: This position is split between Edgewood School Based Health Center and Middletown School Based Health Center (40 hrs total per week)

Optometric Technician Summary

Assist the optometrist on duty by conducting and recording pretest date. Interacts directly with the patient. Supports patient flow and performs ancillary testing. Responsible for daily maintenance of the exam/pretest rooms and maintaining supply list.

Direct patient care: 

· Works with patients and takes initiative to explain process/testing procedures. 

· Shows empathy and willingness to create a positive experience and put patients at ease. 

· Supports daily patient flow. 

Clinical duties: 

· Performs all pre-examination testing with accuracy and attention to detail. 

· Understands how to communicate testing process for patient comprehension. 

Administrative duties: 

· Records all PHI in an organized, timely, and efficient manner. 

· Demonstrates knowledge of scheduling and computer processing procedures. 

· Ensures pretest and exam room supply list is maintained on a regular basis. 

Office appearance: 

· Takes pride in the appearance of the exam/pre-test rooms and shows initiative in keeping areas clean, organized and professional looking. 

· Responsible for the maintenance and disinfection of equipment and testing tools. 

· Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.
