JOB DESCRIPTION: OPTOMETRIC TECHNICIAN LEVEL 1
Job Summary
Optometric technicians are responsible for patient check in, exam pre-test, exam lane testing, exam post-test, patient check out.
General Accountabilities including but not limited to
Prep day for success by arriving to shift on time and ready to work
- Greet patients in friendly and welcoming manner
- Patient check in, fee presentation, pre-testing, entrance testing, checking vision, refraction and contact lens fitting, check out
- Properly receiving and accounting for patient payments and copays
- Answering of phone and scheduling of appointments
- Verifying insurance eligibility
- Placing contact lens orders and encouraging patients to order through practice
- Conducting contact lens training classes with patients
- Assisting physicians in performing any and all procedures/ tests
- Ensuring equipment is functioning properly and contacting store support or management in event of a breakdown
- Scheduling referrals
- Ensuring job is fully completed prior to clocking out of a shift
- Stocking and cleaning exam lanes
- Cleaning general areas, including break room, bathrooms, floors, common areas
- Participation in training of new staff members
- Participation in staff training programs or continuing education events
- Duties may be added or changed at any time
- Weekend availability is mandatory
Job Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: Health care or customer service experience recommended but not required
