Job Description - Optometrist


This is an independent Optometry position allowing you to build your own business at a successful practice with all state of the art equipment and ancillary staff to assist you.  
 

About Us:

Belchertown Eye Care is a well-established private optometric practice committed to providing comprehensive and compassionate eye care to the Belchertown community and surrounding areas. Known for our friendly, patient-centered approach and modern technology, we are seeking a qualified and personable Optometrist to join our team as an Independent Contractor.

Position Summary:

We are looking for a professional, reliable, and patient-focused Optometrist to provide routine eye exams, contact lens fittings, and medical optometric services. This is a flexible, independent contractor role ideal for an OD seeking to supplement their schedule or build a long-term collaborative relationship with a thriving private practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive eye exams for patients of all ages

  • Diagnose and manage ocular diseases and disorders (e.g., glaucoma, dry eye, infections)

  • Provide contact lens evaluations and fittings (including specialty lenses if applicable)

  • Educate patients on eye health, proper eyewear use, and treatment plans

  • Maintain thorough and accurate documentation using electronic health records (EHR)

  • Collaborate with support staff and optical team to ensure seamless patient care

  • Refer patients to appropriate specialists when necessary

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry school

  • Licensed to practice optometry in the state of Massachusetts

  • Strong clinical and diagnostic skills

  • Excellent communication and patient education skills

  • Ability to work independently with a professional and personable demeanor

  • Malpractice insurance required (individual or negotiable depending on arrangement)
