Camden Family Health is a federally qualified health center (FQHC) dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the communities we serve throughout central West Virginia. With more than 20 clinical locations across three counties, we provide comprehensive primary care, behavioral health, dental, and vision services.

We are seeking a compassionate, patient-focused Optometrist to join our growing Vision Services team. This position offers the opportunity to practice full-scope primary eye care while making a meaningful impact in underserved rural communities.

Position Summary

The Optometrist is responsible for providing comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosing and managing diseases and disorders of the visual system, prescribing corrective lenses, and coordinating care with primary care providers and specialists when appropriate. The Optometrist plays an integral role in Camden Family Health's interdisciplinary care model and is committed to delivering exceptional patient-centered care.

Essential Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive eye examinations for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.


• Diagnose, treat, and manage ocular diseases and vision disorders.


• Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision correction options.


• Detect systemic diseases that present through ocular findings and coordinate referrals as appropriate.


• Provide patient education regarding eye health, disease prevention, and treatment plans.


• Maintain complete and accurate electronic medical records in accordance with organizational standards.


• Collaborate with primary care, behavioral health, and dental providers to ensure coordinated patient care.


• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and organizational performance goals.


• Support outreach activities and community vision health initiatives as requested.


• Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and organizational policies and professional standards.

Qualifications

Required:

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.


• Current or eligible West Virginia Optometry License.


• Current DEA registration (if applicable).


• Current BLS certification or ability to obtain upon hire.


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.


• Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.

Preferred:

• Previous experience in community health or rural healthcare.


• Experience utilizing electronic medical records (Athena is the EMR).
