We are currently looking for qualified candidates for our Optometry Technician role. Please note: this role requires an applicant to be bilingual (English/Spanish). This position reports to the Director of Optometry and is a Regular, Full Time, Non-Exempt role with a startinghourlyrate range of $25.16.00 to $27.04 with full benefits.
Primary Objective: As an Optometry Technician, you will interact with and support patients of all ages to ensure smooth patient flow and provide excellent care and service.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of in-office tests crucial for accurate diagnoses and treatment plans. These tests include automated lensometry, which measures the prescription of lenses; autorefraction, which provides an objective estimate of a person's refractive error; visual field tests to check peripheral vision; fundus photography to document the interior surface of the eye; and OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) imaging to capture detailed images of the retina.
Train patients on how to insert and remove contact lenses safely and effectively, ensuring they are comfortable and confident with their use. This includes demonstrating proper hygiene practices and answering any questions they may have about contact lens care.
Supporting the front desk is another key and important aspect of the role, which will have a set schedule as the coverage is shared with the other Optometric Technician. This involves answering telephone calls promptly and professionally, assisting patients with check-in and check-out procedures to ensure they have a positive experience from the moment they arrive until they leave. You will also be responsible for scheduling appointments, managing patient records, verification of public or private insurance and/or other public assistance programs and performing various administrative duties to maintain an organized and efficient office environment.
Other duties or tasks assigned by the Director of Optometry. These could include assisting with inventory management by keeping track of medical supplies, records, and equipment and ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained and calibrated. Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay updated on the latest optometric practices and technologies and other sessions regarding patient registration and enrollment to other programs. Technicians may also assist other clinics when necessary.

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
Bilingual in Spanish and English.
1+ years of experience preferred but not required as training can be provided on the job.
Willingness to learn and grow in the role is key since most of the tasks can be learned in the job and/or taught by the Optometry Director.
Ability to multi-task with excellent organizational skills and effective team dynamics, flexibility and collaboration.
Knowledge of clinical operations and patient confidentiality and willingness to teach and providing instruction to patients.
Ability to establish effective working relationships with patients and peers.
Adherence to infection control protocols and practices .
