OR Aide-West (Full Time, 40, Day/Evening)

RESPONSIBILITIES

I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs a variety of duties related to the cleaning, maintenance, and preparation of surgical rooms to ensure timely room turnover and patient care functions and activities.

• Performs duties in accordance with department and Medical Center policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.

II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Essential: standing, walking, stooping/bending, kneeling climbing stairs, squatting, twisting body, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing , speaking, lifting weight up to 19 pounds; transporting patients on gurneys; carrying usually weight of 25 pounds; reaching above, at and below shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, frequent gripping of an object.

• Occasional: sitting, crawling, and walking on uneven ground.

• Operates gurneys, housekeeping equipment, mop, ice machine, roller, telephone, and slider.

III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Not substantially subjected to environmental conditions.

• Exposure to blood products, body fluids, secretions, patient diseases, chemicals and materials typical in surgery.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

• General academic background necessary to understand basic asepsis and sterile techniques.

• Current BLS/HCP CPR certification.

B. EXPERIENCE:

• Previous experience in an operating room environment preferred.

• Ability to perform simple functions using personal computer preferred.
