Orchestra Manager

Description

Orchestra Managers are each assigned to an AMFS performing ensemble. One of the orchestra manager positions will also work very closely with the AMFS Composition Department. Reporting to the Manager of Personnel, the Orchestra Managers are responsible for the overall day-to-day management of their assigned ensemble over the course of the summer season. 

Responsibilities

• Attend, manage, and report on all rehearsals, readings, and concerts for the assigned ensemble(s).
• Compile and distribute weekly rosters and rehearsal schedules to orchestra personnel.
• Manage all orchestra personnel issues as they arise.
• Assist with placement auditions and special projects as assigned.
• Work closely and effectively with guest artists, faculty members, students, and staff.
• Other related duties as necessary.

Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years ensemble management experience and a background in classical music required.
• For the Aspen Contemporary Ensemble/Composition Program Manager, a knowledge and love of contemporary music is strongly recommended.
• A high level of organizational ability, attention to detail, and communication and writing skills, as well as an ability to multitask and work effectively with a variety of constituents.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines, while demonstrating patience, good judgement, and a positive attitude.
• Knowledge of computers (Microsoft products) and information technology. Experience with ArtsVision is preferred but not required. Training will be provided as necessary.

Compensation

$12.50/hour plus housing provided by AMFS (valued at a minimum of $4.91/hour depending on location.) Overtime $22.22/hour

The overall non-local compensation for this position, including hourly pay ($12.50/hour) and housing ($4.91/hour), exceeds the 2024 Colorado minimum wage of $14.81.

Benefits include AMFS season pass and paid sick time.

Hiring Timeline
