Job Description - Order Entry Clerk

About The Role:


The Order Entry Clerk is responsible for accurately inputting, updating, and maintaining information into computer systems and databases. They work with various data sources, including paper documents, websites, and other digital files, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality. The Order Entry Clerk will also assist with other administrative tasks as needed. The ideal candidate should have excellent data entry skills, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, with occasional Saturdays. This is an entry-level position only.



Responsibilities:



  • Entering data into databases and spreadsheets, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

  • Checking entered data against source documents for errors and inconsistencies.

  • Maintaining and updating existing records, organizing and filing digital and physical documents.

  • Locating and retrieving information from databases and files as needed.

  • Assisting with the creation of reports based on the data entered and maintained.

  • Ensuring the confidentiality and security of sensitive information.

  • Communicating with team members to clarify data requirements and resolve issues.

  • Receive orders via telephone, email, and other methods.

  • Provide customers with product specifications.



Requirements:



  • Fast and accurate typing skills are crucial for efficient data entry.

  • Ability to identify and correct errors in data is essential.

  • Efficiently managing large volumes of data and tasks.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and database software.

  • Clear and effective communication for clarifying data requirements and collaborating with team members.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.

  • Attention to detail.



Education & Work Experience:



  • A high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Additional certifications or training in data entry or office administration are a plus, but not required.

  • A minimum of two years of previous experience in an office setting performing data entry or related tasks is required.
