New England Donor Services (NEDS) coordinates organ and tissue donation in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, the eastern counties of Vermont and Bermuda. Responsible for one of the largest of the 56 Organ Procurement Organizations (OPOs) that make up the nation’s donation system, NEDS works with over 200 hospitals and serves 14 million people in our region, screening nearly 55,000 potential donor referrals annually. With approximately $110M in operating revenues, NEDS employs 330 clinical and non-clinical staff members throughout New England and across the country.

Job Description

New England Donor Services is seeking an experienced

ICU RN, Critical Care RN, Trauma Nurse

to join our team. As a

Donation Coordinator

you will respond on-site to organ donor referrals to provide clinical expertise in donor evaluation, donor management, organ allocation and organ recovery.
You will blend high level clinical and people skills to educate hospital staff on the donation process, work with donor families to obtain consent for donation and work with multiple surgical teams and critical care staff to optimize organs for transplantation. Success in this role requires a self-assured professional who has keen clinical assessment skills, the ability to be flexible and remain calm and effective in highly charged and clinically complex situations.
Schedule :
Orientation: After a general company wide week long onsite (Waltham, MA) orientation, you will participate in a specialized organ donation training program. The

New Hire Donation Academy is 3 days/week for first 3 weeks in Waltham office (generally Tuesday through Thursday on a day shift) and additional training in Waltham office throughout orientation program. Once the classroom training is complted, new hires will particapte in a mix of 16-hour day and 12-hour night on-call shifts.

Average 14 shifts per 4-week schedule

+ trainings + meetings. Significant travel with personal vehicle throughout all of New England is expected. Mileage and other reimbursements available.
Independent:

12-hour night shifts, 7:00pm -7:00am shift.

Expect 12 shifts per 4 week schedule (3 shifts per week)

Qualifications

Qualifications:
Optimal candidates have critical care or trauma experience with medical/clinical credentials including experience managing complicated clinical event
Must have valid driver’s license and insurance (extensive driving throughout New England is required) and have reliable transportation.
Ideal candidate must have the following:

Critical thinking skills and keen clinical assessment skills
Be compassionate and have conflict resolution skills
Able to sit, stand or bend for extended period of time
Have great work ethic and be forward thinking

**This position requires travel to Waltham Headquarters and various hospitals throughout New England
Education and Experience:
3-5 years clinical

experience/critical

care experience and a Bachelor’s Degree preferred CPTC Certification a plus
