Orthopedic Technician/Medical Assistant

Job Summary:

The Orthopedic Technician/Medical Assistant will provide clinical support to the Clinic Manager and Physicians by guiding the patient flow in and out of the clinic.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Observe patient’s condition, report observations or concerns to physician and records appropriate documentation in patient’s records.
• Obtain and record patient vitals.
• Assist with diagnostic procedures using aseptic principles in creating and maintaining a sterile field during procedures.
• Use technical skills regarding positioning, wound care, and dressings.
• Maintain stock items for examination and procedure rooms, forms used by clinical staff.
• Apply and remove casts or prepare DME for patients. 
• Perform x-rays in the absence of x-ray technician
• Performs other job-related duties as required.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities: 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize tasks.
• Ability to maintain confidential records, PHI.
• Proficient with EMR.

Education and Experience:

• Completion of a certified Orthopedic Technology Training program preferred.
• Completion of an accredited medical assistant program
• Certification/Licensure – CPR certification for Healthcare Providers
• Minimum two (2) years’ experience in an Orthopedic setting.

Physical Requirements: 

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking. 
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
