Your New Job
Job Summary:
This role will be hybrid, performing both fielding and engineering design. Responsible for collecting and reporting field data and using that data to design and draft OSP work prints.

** MUST be located in the Memphis, TN metro area or willing to relocate. Relocation assistance can be provided for non-local candidates.

Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

Collect relevant pole information and accurately document existing measurements and placement.
Utility pole identification, inspection, and classification. Gather aerial attachment heights and clearances, checking for violations.
Determine ideal locations for new above ground facilities and equipment.
Conduct Underground/Buried Cable layout surveys.
Develop accurate fiber/optical network construction surveys.
Determine existing and new locations for fiber optic cables.
Inspect the work of construction contractors.
Accurately depict new construction route opportunities.
Take pictures of job sites, pole conditions and other relevant structures or landmarks; Make hand drawn sketches of recommended engineering design while in the field or facility.
Upload clear images, files, hand notes, and sketches, and edit for quality and cohesiveness.
Make decisions taking into consideration value engineering and the impact on construction, installation and future maintenance.
Open hand holes to inspect facilities (substructure conditions, fiber placement, and condition).
Frequent and/or daily travel to job site(s) using personal vehicle. Assure that personal vehicle and tools are maintained to company safety standards.
At times, may be required to interface with

customers/landowners.
Work in various customer specific systems to produce a cost-effective engineered design for construction to place, splice, install and maintain for many years to come.
Identify assigned fiber/copper pairs at a strategic access points and design an aerial and or underground path from point A to point B.
Identify the necessary requirements to successfully attach fiber/copper cables to poles as well as place cables in the underground environments.
Engineer in the public right of way and on private property avoiding conflict with existing facilities.
Initiate internal work order requests for other departments necessary to complete entire project.
Always meet or exceed internal and external quality standards, and on-time delivery.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
General

Valid driver’s license and ability to accommodate travel in personal vehicle; satisfactory driving record.
Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
String time management and attention to detail skills.
Ability to be flexible, take direction with ease, including changes to schedule and workflow priorities.
Ability to maintain professional tact in a fast-paced work environment with internal personnel and clients.
Superior customer service and dedication to providing a positive experience inside and outside the organization.
GRIT (guts, reliability, innovation and teamwork).
Ability to follow direction in maintaining all Field Safety standards.
Physical requirements: o Ability to stand, stoop, squat and bend for extended periods of time.

Ability to look up for extended periods of time.
Ability to walk for extended periods of time and/or long distances.
Ability to navigate through potential uneven walkways/terrain.
Tolerant to extreme elements (heat, sun, wind, rain, snow, etc.).
Good vision and depth perception (corrective lenses OK).
Ability to sit and drive for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift 10lbs minimum, and potentially up to 50lbs.

Technical

Knowledge of NESC requirements. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Earth.
Knowledge & experience in AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS or client proprietary design systems.
Knowledge & experience with project management processes, tools, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects with reproducible results.
Ability to quickly learn new systems and databases.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics is a plus.
Basic knowledge of Make-Ready Construction.
Experience in estimating existing utility locations.
