Outfitter Foreman

The Outfitting Foreman is responsible for overseeing the final stages of vessel construction, ensuring all finishing tasks are completed to the highest standards. This includes coordinating teams, ensuring quality control, and maintaining safety and compliance standards. The role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a deep understanding of the outfitting process, including installations, testing, and commissioning of systems and structures.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Supervision and Leadership:

• Manage and lead a team of workers, including carpenters, and other trades involved in final outfitting tasks.
• Assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure that work is completed on time and to specification.

Quality Control:

• Inspect and verify the quality of work to ensure compliance with blueprints, design specifications, and safety regulations.
• Address defects, rework, or non-conformance issues with appropriate solutions.
• Ensure that all finishing touches, such as paintwork, fixtures, and fittings, are installed correctly.

Health and Safety:

• Enforce health and safety regulations on site to ensure a safe working environment.
• Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions as needed.

Technical Expertise:

• Provide technical guidance and troubleshoot any installation issues that arise during final outfitting 

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Foreman in construction, shipbuilding, or a related industry, with a focus on final outfitting.
• Strong knowledge of construction processes, blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings preferred.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations and standards.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. 
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in construction or a related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or foreman role.

Physical Requirements: 

• Ability to work on a vessel over navigable waters. 
• Ability to stoop, crawl, bend, reach and climb to reach various systems and components within a vessel.
