The Student and Trainee Mental Health (STMH) Program at Mount Sinai is seeking a dynamic psychologist to join our expanding team. Situated on the Upper East Side of New York City, adjacent to the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, STMH is a unique and rewarding program that evaluates and treats medical students, house-staff (residents and fellows), graduate students, and postdoctoral trainees from programs across the Mount Sinai Health System. STMH has grown significantly in the past few years, in keeping with our mission of expanding in-house access to high quality, evidence-based mental health care for our students and trainees. 

This is a full-time, outpatient position with a mix of on-site and remote/tele-health work, with late hours on at least 2 days of the week, to meet the needs of the population we serve.  

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Title:                    Staff Psychologist/Assistant Clinical Professor

Service:               Student and Trainee Mental Health program – Outpatient

 

Purpose of Position:

  • Provide psychiatric evaluation and psychological treatment in an outpatient faculty practice for Mount Sinai Health System students and trainees, ensuring appropriate therapy and longitudinal care.

 

Additional Information:

  • Additional opportunities for faculty practice, teaching, and/or clinical research exist at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai

  • Includes an academic appointment at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai at a rank commensurate with experience and qualifications

 



Responsibilities

Specific Job Responsibilities

  • Provide initial intake assessment and time-limited psychological treatment, including individual and group psychotherapy for students and trainees

  • Function as an integral part of a collaborative team that includes psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers.

  • Contribute to psycho-education and outreach efforts to the Mount Sinai student and trainee community

 



Qualifications

Specific Job Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) from an APA-accredited program
  • New York State Psychology license

  • Expertise in providing CBT or other evidence-based therapies 

  • Training/experience working with a student population is desired

  • Experience working with specialized populations – such as individuals with substance use-related problems, individuals with a history of trauma, and/or other specific conditions

  • Experience working with the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities

  • Excellent writing skills and computer skills, and ability to manage responsibilities of timely documentation in an electronic health record

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of individuals/groups

  • Understanding of best practices in diagnostic evaluations and psychotherapy

Compensation range from 120K to 175K (not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits).

Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialties, historical productivity, historical collections, and hospital/community need. As such, an actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of the range, and in certain circumstances, may wind up being outside of the listed salary range. The salary range listed is for full-time employment and does not include bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits.
