Location: Pine Ridge Indian Health Service (PRSU), Pine Ridge, SD
Schedule: Full-time | Variable shifts (days, evenings, weekends, holidays)
Position Summary
The Out-Patient Registered Nurse provides comprehensive ambulatory nursing care to patients of all ages in PRSU Out-Patient and Specialty Clinics. The RN delivers direct patient care, performs clinical assessments, administers medications and treatments, supports preventive health services, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams serving the Native American community.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct outpatient nursing care across adult, pediatric, women’s health, specialty, mobile, and isolation clinics
Perform head-to-toe assessments and nursing reassessments; develop and update plans of care
Administer medications and vaccines via all approved routes
Perform EKGs, cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, venipuncture, wound care (including wound vac), and point-of-care testing
Conduct preventive screenings (depression, fall risk, diabetes foot exams, substance use, IPV, etc.)
Educate patients and families on disease processes, treatment plans, and self-care
Respond to emergency situations, including cardiac arrest and anaphylaxis
Document care accurately in the PRSU Electronic Health Record (EHR)
Maintain equipment, follow infection control standards, and ensure patient safety
Qualifications
Current, unrestricted RN license (any U.S. state or territory)
Minimum 2 years outpatient/ambulatory nursing experience
Current AHA BLS certification (must remain current)
