Position Overview:

Greenlife Healthcare Staffing is seeking a skilled Outpatient Surgery and Observation Coder to play a critical role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in coding for a major academic medical center. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in a large hospital setting and be proficient with EPIC/3M systems.

Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management preferred.
• Licensure: AHIMA certification as RHIT or RHIA required. (CCS may be considered with equivalent experience).
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience coding outpatient surgery and observation encounters in large hospitals (700+ beds). Prior experience in a trauma center is highly desirable.
• Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of CDI reconciliation workflows. Must have VPN-ready, secure computer equipment.
• Soft Skills: High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to meet productivity standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Code outpatient surgery and observation encounters using EPIC/3M.
• Apply correct leveling, carve-outs, and infusion charging.
• Meet productivity benchmarks: 2–3 charts/hour.
• Submit coding promptly within a 4-day discharge hold window.
• Collaborate with CDI and respond to queries in a timely manner.
