Position Overview
The Outreach & Communications Coordinator plays a key role in expanding awareness, usage, and community support for WE-cycle. This entry-level position is ideal for a proactive, self-motivated communications professional who thrives in community-facing work, takes initiative, and enjoys building relationships. While not a sales role, the position requires a strong outreach mindset, someone who is comfortable opening doors, making connections, and actively promoting the value of WE-cycle to diverse audiences.
The Coordinator will lead and support community engagement initiatives, rider communications, and marketing efforts while ensuring brand consistency across all platforms and touchpoints.
This role:
- Reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the System Director.
- Is an in-person, full-time, year-round, hourly position based out of Aspen or Carbondale while requiring a regional presence in both the Aspen and Carbondale shops.
- Will require morning, evening, and weekend work to accommodate events and other system priorities.
Responsibilities
Community Outreach
- Support and execute community outreach initiatives to promote WE-cycle and its benefits across the community, in alignment with the communications roadmap.
- Coordinate closely with Spanish-language outreach efforts to ensure alignment and consistency.
- Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with local businesses, organizations, and community partners to support engagement goals.
- Represent WE-cycle at events, meetings, and activations to increase visibility, participation, and support for the program.
- Identify new opportunities for engagement and proactively recommend creative approaches to expand reach.
Rider Engagement
- Coordinate and implement rider communication strategies that educate users about WE-cycle services, benefits, policies, and procedures.
- Develop and deliver timely communications to keep riders informed about service updates, events, promotions, and operational changes.
- Support the production of educational content and materials for riders, including digital and print resources.
- Assist with rider safety and education initiatives, collaborating with internal and external partners as needed.
Marketing & Communications
- Coordinate and implement marketing and messaging initiatives across multiple channels, including e-newsletters, social media, the WE-cycle website, and promotional materials per communications plan.
- Coordinate the design and production of marketing assets in accordance with the communications roadmap, working with external design consultants as needed.
- Track and support the execution of campaigns to ensure consistency, clarity, and effectiveness.
- Support marketing initiatives and document the WE-cycle experience through photography, videography, and written testimonials to be compiled and diffused for a variety of promotional purposes.
- Develop content for and coordinate design and production of reports and various presentations.
- Support and monitor brand alignment
- Ensure WE-cycle’s brand standards are maintained and consistently applied and represented across all WE-cycle platforms and touchpoints, including system materials, physical assets, partner collateral, communications and marketing content, social media, engagement activities, and rider interactions.
- Coordinate and organize WE-cycle digital assets, library, and archives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
- 2-3 years of experience in communications, community engagement, or digital content roles, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment.
- Self-motivated, ability to work independently, problem solve, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, resource-conscious environment.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to communicate complex or technical information clearly for diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Experience supporting engagement and outreach efforts across multiple channels, including in-person, public speaking, web, email, and social media.
- Familiarity with managing brand consistency and elevating communications to meet evolving best practices.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with internal and external colleagues, partners, and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage and update WordPress websites, including content publishing, page layout, and basic site maintenance.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) to develop engaging and brand-aligned materials.
- Proficiency in Google Suite and email marketing software.
- Bilingual skills in Spanish-language desired.
- Demonstrated commitment to nonprofit values and community-centered engagement.
Compensation & Benefits
- $28/hour
