We are now hiring for a full-time Outreach Specialist (Family Ambassador for Early Learning) to join our Calumet team at Altgeld Gardens!  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  

• Provides ongoing outreach engagement for early learning events, activities and enrollment. 


• Door to door canvasing, dissemination of materials and other related activities.


• Handles emergency and crisis situations with residents.


• Works within contract, grant and program requirements including meeting timelines and reporting requirements.


• Takes increasing responsibility for own professional development, utilizing supervision and other developmental opportunities within and outside the agency to enhance skills and understanding.

  Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  
  


•  Required to work one Saturday and at least one late night a month.


• 
  

   Works effectively with diverse staff and service populations. 

  
  


• Works evening and weekends hours as needed and assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma required.


• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in related field.


• Demonstrated ability to render adequate services to clients and organize and manage job efficiently.


• Requires mobility to work with community-based caseload. 


• Ability to maintain assigned community and home-based services.


• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.


• Ability to work with diverse groups.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for sustained periods of time, frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to feel, handle and operate objects or controls, and occasionally stand, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel and crouch.


• The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing and viewing a computer terminal.


• The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

SALARY:

• Compensation is commensurate with years of related experience, position requirements, and candidate qualifications. The average salary for the position is $20.00 an hour.
