SUMMARY
Solicits parts business from assigned accounts through personal and phone contacts. Grow parts business through addition of new customers either retail, wholesale, or through the shop and by increasing parts sales through existing customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Visits assigned customers based on scheduled route.
Prospects for new customers and increased parts sales through existing customers.
Monitors consignment accounts keeping inventory accurate and counting each customers consignment inventory at least bimonthly. Implement consignment reorder system ensuring accuracy and prompt replenishment.
Checks with customers to ensure that delivery date of non-stock items is acceptable before ordering. Uses proper parts order method to assure delivery of parts per customer request. Makes customer aware prior to ordering of any special shipping charges for emergency orders. Makes sure those charges are billed to the customer on the sales invoice.
Reviews any special orders with the parts manager and obtains his/her approval. Places any special instruction notes on orders to allow easy follow-up and proper disposition.
Handles all inside parts duties while working in the store. This includes, but is not limited to, servicing customers both walk in and phone, unloading freight, processing incoming shipments, stocking parts on shelves, taking care of customer orders immediately upon receipt, assisting with core processing and shipping, assisting service department with their parts needs.
Obtains parts manager’s approval for any special pricing.
Follows up on parts orders to ensure that customers have been served properly.
Promotes service department to customers and assists in putting together service specials to hand to potential and current service customers.
Turns in completed weekly call reports, time sheets and expense report every Monday morning by 8:00 a.m.
Updates customer records to reflect changes to customers’ names, addresses, etc.
Adds new customers to appropriate mailing lists.
Attends training seminars when possible. Participates in at home training via web-based courses.
Acts as a public relations liaison for the dealership.
Follow all company written policies and procedures and any given verbally by supervisors or upper management. Adheres to credit policies and assists with customer collections when requested.
Maintains professional appearance.
MARGINAL DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Keeps a schedule on company vehicle maintenance in a file and makes sure vehicle is getting regular service. Checks all fluid levels at least weekly. Makes manager aware of any needed repairs. Keep the vehicle clean inside and out.
Operates company vehicle in a safe and courteous manner. Wears seat belt when in company vehicle or on company time.
Assists in keeping the store clean, including but not limited to restrooms, floors, counters, waste disposal, parts shelves, computers and screens, shelves, etc.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises one employee in the Sales routes, himself. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Learns and performs parts managerial duties in the absence of the Parts Manager or Assistance Parts Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
