Outside Rental Sales

Position Summary:

Superior customer service is paramount to Target Rental becoming the Premier Equipment Solutions Provider for our clientele. The Outside Sales Associate position is an essential component to our customers’ success as well as ours. This team member will form and maintain excellent relationships with Target Rental’s customers as well as developing new relationships through earning new business. They will continually communicate with their customer base to ensure all their needs have been met by Target Rental. The Outside Sales Associate will travel to customers’ job sites or offices to maintain established partnerships and visit new sites to create new partnerships

Roles and Responsibilities

• Year over year, preserve the dynamic relationships that have already been earned and develop new relationships with partners that Target Rental can assist in becoming increasingly successful


• Craft new long-term business relationships with high potential rental customers decision makers


• Be innovative in developing sales tactics to maintain current clientele and attract the decision makers of our target customers


• Create, produce and deliver unique and extraordinary presentations to our customers’ and target customers’ decision makers


• Provide customers and potential customers with well-constructed, competitive quotes that will allow maximum profitability to both Target Rental and our customers


• Create team synergy while working with fellow team members, sales and operations alike, to make our customers and our business flourish


• Maximize market penetration and revenue to exceed financial targets within assigned territories


• Strive to identify, promote and deliver cost effective, mutually beneficial rental solutions


• Set pricing and discount structures for customers


•  Manage budgets and work within established financial parameters to maximize Target Rental’s profits and keep costs as low


• Record daily contacts with customers, appointments, phone calls, etc in Target Rental’s customer contact program(s) within the same day of the occurrence


• Make effective contact with all customers (using the customers’ preferred method of communication) inside their assigned territory at a minimum every 45 days


• Represent yourself and Target Rental in a positive, professional manner always, by maintaining a clean, neat, professional vehicle, appearance and attitude


• Instruct and/or Educate customers on basic equipment uses, functions and availability


• Coordinate equipment reservations with front counter personnel


• Address and work to remedy any/all complaints or disputes that arise from our customers in a timely manner


• Maintain company vehicle through cleaning, maintenance and PM


• Obey all laws, rules, regulations, etc. pertaining to driving while in their company vehicle. Report any citations within one (1) business day of the occurrence and/or citation date


• Attend departmental meetings as required (may be after business hours)


• Follow company safety rules, operational guidelines and procedures


• Follow job site/customer safety and visitor rules


• Performs other duties as required. Some duties may be outside your normal scope of work

Qualifications, physical requirements and Education Requirements

• Prior sales experience


• Lift 50 lbs with assistance


• Must be able to sit and drive for long periods of time – Entire shift. Must be able to stand for long period as required.


• Read, write and speak English proficiently. Bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus


• Able to be exposed to and work in; air conditioned and non-air conditioned; inside/outside environments (including changing weather conditions); occasional noise in excess of 100 decibels; dirt, grease, oil and other non-hazardous chemical encounters; all other elements presented by the day-to-day operations consistent with a construction/industrial equipment rental company


• Minimum High School degree or equivalent, BS/BA preferred. Will consider combination of education and experience


• Demonstrate experience using any PC (will train on company specific) POR is a plus


• Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint or similar programs


• Must be capable of creating unique, effective presentations


• Must be able to maintain an acceptable attendance record


• Must have and exhibit drive, competitiveness and a strong desire to succeed

• Must be able to identify issues and apply quick, effective solutions independently
