Outside Sales Rep

Summary

Great Southern Wood Preserving, Inc., makers of YellaWood brand Pressure Treated Pine, is seeking an Outside Sales Rep. This position will be responsible for building solid relationships with customers, generating new business for the plant, and supporting Inside Sales Representatives. This is a full-time position offering competitive pay and a full benefits package. 

Essential Duties:

• Must learn and be able to communicate the "Great Southern Story" to include communicating to the customer frequently the assets that separate us from the competition.


• Calls on potential and existing customers through phone calls and visits qualify leads and sell products and services.


• Overcomes technical and business objections of prospective customers.


• Identifies and reports new sales opportunities regarding new customers and/or product lines.


• Emphasizes salable features, quotes prices and credit terms, and prepares sales orders for orders obtained.


• Estimates date of delivery to the customer, based on knowledge of own firm's production and delivery schedules.


• Builds and maintains customer relationships.


• Prepares reports of business transactions; Participates in weekly sales department meetings.


• Keeps customer account activities and literature up to date.


• Investigates and resolves customer problems and claims.


• Travels to and attends customer functions and special events.


• Assists in training sales and other positions as requested by management.

Education and/or Experience:                   

• Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from a four-year college or university; and/or one to two (1-2) years related experience in the treated lumber industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
