Primary Role:
To assist crew members by working on the ground, handing tools and heavy materials to Linemen. Dig holes and pad ditches and perform other similar work in connection with the construction and maintenance of overhead utilities.
Essential Functions:
Will be trained to work on energized and de-energized secondary voltages
Must be willing to work from a ladder, use aerial bucket trucks, and occasionally climb poles
Will be responsible for constructing meter cans and installing meters
Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs.
Must be receptive to training and coaching
Must be able to stay out of town when required; if that is not possible, must use a personal vehicle to travel to the designated reporting area
Must have a positive attitude and a commitment to customer satisfaction
Must possess organizational skills
Must demonstrate professionalism when representing AUI and its customers
Basic electrical knowledge is preferred but not required
Must be willing to learn how to use a utility computer for AMI meter installation
Must be able to use GPS and demonstrate effective time-management skills
Must be willing to work overtime when needed
Must maintain a work truck and keep it up to AUI’s standards
Must adhere to AUI safety standards
Minimum Requirements:
Require good mechanical and electrical aptitude
Require valid driver's license with the ability to obtain a Class A CDL within 150 days
At least 1 year of related construction or utility/electrical experience
Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental protection practices and procedures
Must successfully complete a criminal background check and drug screen
