Summary: An Affordable Housing Overnight Building Monitor ensures the safety, security, and stability of residents during overnight hours. They monitor the facility, conduct rounds, manage crises, document incidents, complete monthly rent collection, and maintain a calm and safe environment.


Schedule: Friday, Saturday 7:00pm-3:00am and Sunday, Monday 9:00pm-5:00am (32 hours per week) Awake overnight



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  1. Perform regular, documented rounds of the interior and exterior of a 40-bed rooming house, ensuring resident safety, security, and compliance with house rules.

  2. Monitor the environment for emergencies, maintenance concerns, safety hazards, and unauthorized visitors, and ensure all doors and common areas are secure.

  3. Monitor security cameras for three affordable housing properties while maintaining an on-site presence at the organization's largest 40-bed rooming house.

  4. Conducts regular, scheduled rounds of all building floors, stairwells, and perimeters. Keeps a detailed nightly log of completion times for rounds and reports any unusual activity.

  5. Respond timely and appropriately to incidents, resident concerns, alarms, and emergency situations, and communicate significant events to supervisory staff in accordance with agency procedures.

  6. Collect and document monthly rent payments from residents, issue receipts as required, maintain accurate records, and report payment concerns or discrepancies to management in accordance with agency policies and procedures.

  7. Maintain an awake overnight presence to support resident safety, provide crisis intervention when needed, and coordinate emergency response with first responders and on-call staff.

  8. Conduct wellness checks in accordance with program policies.

  9. Provide basic problem-solving assistance.

  10. Always maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality.

  11. Enforce program rules and regulations, such as curfews or visitor policies.

  12. Provide services to people in our services according to DDS, DMH, MassHealth, HUD, DPH, BSAS, and all applicable regulatory standards, as well as Bridgewell policies and procedures.



  1. Maintain shift notes, checklists, assignments and other required documentation according to all applicable regulatory standards as well as Bridgewell policies and procedures.

  2. Conduct all steady care calls as per guidelines (applies to all awake overnight shifts).

  3. Maintain all mandatory training certifications as well as additional program specific trainings.

  4. Serve as the program's specific Fire Safety Officer or Safety Coordinator or Human Rights Officer, if applicable.

  5. Inspects the building for hazards, reports maintenance issues to facility management, and ensures cleanliness.

  6. Attend and participate in program staff meetings and supervision meetings.

  7. Maintain cleanliness, perform light cleaning (e.g., sweeping, sanitizing spaces), and ensure the facility is quiet and secure.

  8. Respond to resident conflicts, concerns, or emergencies (health, behavioral) using trauma-informed care and de-escalation techniques.

  2. Maintains core training certifications including FA/CPR, Tier 1 of PABC and all other mandatory training courses based on Bridgewell's policies and procedures.

  3. Other duties as assigned.



Required Education/Experience:



  • High school diploma or GED is required

  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience working with people with mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and/or homelessness.

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience working in a residential facility, emergency shelter, facility management or human services environment.

  • Proven experience utilizing de-escalation techniques or crisis intervention protocols preferred.



  • Bilingual candidates will be preferred.



Required Skills/Knowledge:




  1. Excellent written and oral communication skills so that writing of required documents is clear and articulate.

  2. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.



  1. Excellent customer service skills; Ability to interact with patience and sensitivity in all contact with individuals.



  1. Competent in technology including the ability to use proficiently different EMR systems.

  2. Computer literacy to include ability to use proficiently Microsoft products (Email, Word, Excel, etc.) and web-based applications used by the agency.

  3. Hold a valid US driver's license with a minimum of one year of driving experience in the United States.



Physical Demands:


Described below are essential requirements of staff to ensure the safety of employees and people served alike.   • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to be able to: walk and remain on feet for long time while conducting scheduled indoor and outdoor property rounds.



  • ascend and descend multiple flights of stairs repeatedly during the shift,

  • lift, carry, push, or pull facility equipment, emergency supplies, etc. weighing up to 35–50 pounds.


Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching overhead, and crouching to inspect low or high facility areas
