Position Summary

The Overnight Camp Support staff provides overnight supervision and support to campers during their stay at the summer camp. This role is essential to ensuring a safe, clean, and nurturing environment while camper’s rest. Staff are responsible for responding to camper needs during the night, assisting with personal care if required, handling emergencies calmly and appropriately, and maintaining cleanliness in the cabin areas. The ideal candidate is attentive, dependable, and compassionate, with a strong commitment to camper well-being and dignity.

  • Provide support to people we support throughout the night to ensure their safety and comfort.
  • Respond promptly to campers’ overnight needs including hygiene and emotional support.
  • Assist campers with mobility needs and monitor for signs of illness or distress.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order int eh cabins through the night, including routine disinfecting of high-touch surfaces and restrooms.
  • Ensure emergency and safety equipment is accessible and functioning.
  • Report maintenance needs or health and safety concerns to the appropriate parties.
  • Accurately complete documentation and incident reports as required.
  • Communicate effectively with day counselors, medical personnel and leadership to ensure seamless care transitions.
  • Work cooperatively with other overnight and daytime staff to support an inclusive, supportive environment for campers and fellow team members.
  • Attend all required trainings and follow all camp protocol, policies, and procedures.
  • Communicate with the assigned supervisor and/or agency nurse immediately when any unusual medical or behavioral incidents occur during the care of the person we support.
  • Adhere to all applicable paperwork deadlines, including monthly mileage forms, ensuring that all assigned paperwork is completed accurately and completely.
  • Ensure that all people we support are free from abuse and neglect in the home and when out in the community and immediately report the suspicion of abuse and neglect to the assigned supervisor
  • Attend and participate in team meetings and professional trainings as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

 Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED

Required Skills/Abilities & Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and function well in a high-paced (at times stressful) environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance (use of personal vehicle required at times)
  • Acceptable background checks

Physical Requirements

  • Able to stand, walk, and sit four (4) hours at a time.
  • Repetitive bending and reaching up to two (2) hours a day.
  • Able to lift 25 pounds from floor to waist.
