LOCATION: Edwardsville, KS (Onsite)

JOB OVERVIEW

The role of the Dispatch Coordinator coordinates inbound and outbound shipments and maintains smooth yard flow and solves flow issues in real time with Yard and Dispatch Teams.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Facilitate driver assignments
• Facilitate equipment assignments.
• Verify drivers have sufficient hours of service to complete the assigned routes.
• Perform daily routing
• Respond to the needs, problems and questions of the drivers, shop, and yard personnel.
• Anticipate operational issues affecting customer service and plan accordingly.
• Act as intermediary between restaurants, drivers and Earp Distribution as issues arise.
• Advise restaurants of delays and document on route sheet and shift reports.
• When an accident occurs, gather information, and assist drivers and law enforcement officers. Ensure proper accident processes are followed including management notification, pictures, complete accident reports and damage inspection.
• Coordinate with the shop to assist drivers during breakdowns.
• Ensure that vehicle condition reports, trip reports, drivers’ check-in reports and logs are prepared and handled properly.
• Conduct post-trip interview with drivers.
• Communicate any driver payroll issues to the Transportation Administration Assistant.
• Communicate with Shop Management regarding equipment issues.
• Coordinate with Warehouse Management regarding load issues.
• Perform administrative duties, monitor gate, and follow company security procedures, and other duties necessary to provide a superior level of service. 
• Adhere to all processes set forth by Transportation Manager.
• Adhere to all federal and state regulations including FMCSA regulations.
• Respond promptly and appropriately to restaurant concerns.
• Ensure that Transportation Manager is kept informed on all critical issues.
• Ensure proper flow of information to all transportation personnel, as necessary.
• Efficient fleet operations while operating within budgetary considerations
• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• HS diploma/GED required
• Experience within the food industry will be strongly considered
• Experience with previous dispatch knowledge will be strongly considered

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES

• Must have the ability to work well with outside vendors and carriers as well as internal departments including management
• Must be proficient in Paragon routing software
• Must have excellent math skills
• Must be proficient in Word and Excel
• Must be able to work in a team environment to coordinate and follow through with daily tasks associated with this position and prioritize to meet company goals and deadlines.
• Must be organized, analytical, strong problem-solving skills, detail oriented and excellent with time management and planning skills.
• Must have excellent oral, written and computer literacy skills.
• Ability to sit and use a computer screen for 12 hours a day plus.
• High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
