Role Overview: 

OnQGlobal is seeking a seasoned Commissioning Manager to act as the Owner’s Representative on a high-visibility hyperscale data center project located in Cedar Rapids, IA. This individual will be responsible for leading the end-to-end commissioning process, ensuring that all mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems are designed, installed, tested, and operating to meet the project and owner’s performance standards.

This is an opportunity to plug directly into the owner’s team on a complex, technically sophisticated project where performance and reliability are critical.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Represent the owner’s interests throughout all phases of commissioning — from design through turnover and early operations.
• Develop, maintain, and manage the project’s commissioning plan, schedule, and deliverables.
• Oversee commissioning activities for all MEP systems including HVAC, power distribution, emergency power, UPS, fire protection, and controls.
• Coordinate with construction teams, subcontractors, OEMs, TAB, and third-party Cx agents to ensure thorough testing and documentation.
• Review and comment on design documents, submittals, and equipment selections to ensure alignment with the Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR).
• Participate in Factory Witness Testing (FWT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
• Track commissioning issues, manage punch list items, and drive them to closure.
• Support the handover of fully functional systems to operations/facilities teams.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety requirements, and best practices.

• 10+ years of experience in commissioning management, MEP project execution, or mission critical facility operations.
• Proven track record supporting commissioning on hyperscale data centers or large-scale technical facilities.
• Deep understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, including BMS/EMS/SCADA.
• Experience working in an Owner’s Rep, consulting, or client-side project execution capacity.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills with ability to work across teams.
• Commissioning certifications (e.g., CxA, QCxP, or equivalent) are a plus.
• OSHA 30 or ability to obtain prior to start.
• Ability to work onsite in Cedar Rapids, IA
