Packaging Clerk - 1st Shift

Shift Hours: 6am - 4:30pm

Shift Days: Monday through Friday

Talan Products is growing, and we’re looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Packaging Clerk to join our team. In this role, you’ll help build and assemble various shipping and packaging components—like pallets, racks, crates, and containers—to precise specifications. What You’ll Do:

• Safely operate tools and equipment, including a chop saw, in accordance with company procedures
• Measure and cut framing wood to order specifications
• Assemble wood frames and attach components using nails and other fasteners
• Build and secure packaging structures such as racks, pallets, corrugated tubes, and Gaylord containers
• Apply labels and prepare packaging for shipment
• Band/strap completed packages for secure transport
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Report any equipment, tooling, or quality issues to your supervisor
• Accurately complete production and labor tracking paperwork
• Support other departments or take on additional responsibilities as needed

Requirements

What You Bring:

• Prior experience in wood framing, packaging, or manufacturing (minimum 1 year preferred)
• Ability to read and understand work instructions, safety rules, and measurements
• Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude
• Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals)
• Good verbal communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to interpret diagrams, schedules, or verbal instructions

Physical Requirements:

• Regular standing, walking, and use of hands and arms
• Occasional lifting or moving of items up to 40 lbs
• Frequent exposure to loud machinery and moving mechanical parts
• Ability to wear required PPE and remain alert in a fast-paced environment
