Job Description - Packaging Co-op: Summer/Fall, 2025 and Winter/Spring 2026
This position will aid Package Engineers in completing project deliverable such as test protocols and reports, rationales, testing, inspection, and change control activities. Training will be assigned to the Co-op through the BSC training management system and include required training for the tasks that the Co-op will be expected to complete. A formal training plan will be reviewed and assigned by the Packaging Engineering Supervisor upon the start of employment and amended as needed. In addition, the Co-op will receive hands-on training from their Supervisor and other Packaging Engineers throughout the employment to build understanding of the processes and procedures being followed. Training that will be provided to the Co-op student while in this position: On-site Packaging Lab testing (visuals and performance testing) Vendor and customer visits Voice of Customer or Usability testing Design and prototyping activities Protocol and report overviews Good Documentation Practices in a Regulated Industry Optional professional skills development training courses Current student working towards a Bachelors or Masters of Science in Packaging Required graduation dates for the summer/fall 2025 Co-op are between Dec 2025 to June 2028 and required graduation dates for the winter/spring 2026 Co-op are between June 2026 to June 2029 Must have authorization to work in the United States without restriction Experience with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Completion of Distribution Dynamics and/or Medical Device Packaging class Intermediate knowledge related to paperboard, corrugated, flexible packaging films, Tyvek, thermoformed trays, and packaging equipment Strong interpersonal skills: ability to build relationships and collaborate with internal and external teams Organized and results-oriented; ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize competing tasks Ability to communicate with individuals on all levels Ability to work independently to plan, schedule, and execute activities necessary to meet project timelines Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills are essential
