Associate or Mid-Level Packaging Engineering Specialist

(Level 2 or Level 3) to join our

Transportation, Warehousing & Logistics Dangerous Goods Team

in

Seattle, Washington.
Transportation, Warehousing & Logistics (TWL) supports operations and strategy in logistics, warehousing, and packaging engineering. Joining TWL will introduce you to the company’s many operations requiring logistics support. Our Packaging Engineering Specialists are hard-working, goal-oriented and creative. We are looking for new team members to support enterprise governance of Dangerous Goods in Transportation.

Some domestic travel up to 10% may be required for this role.
Position

Responsibilities:
Maintains employee awareness for hazardous materials (dangerous goods) general familiarization, function specific, and safety requirements by providing walk-through support to meet federal and international regulations.

Oversees the training and compliance for the implementation of HM-232 (Hazardous Materials Security Plans) for the receiving, storing and shipping of hazardous materials (dangerous goods).

Evaluates, classifies and develops packaging instructions for hazardous materials.

Plans the markings, labeling, packaging, and documentation for shipments in compliance with Federal, State, and International regulations.

Increases efficiencies and implements improvements for cost effective worldwide distribution and storage by considering practical packaging and/or handling applications.

Supports interactions & responses with various regulatory agencies.

Prepares the application of special permits & authors letters of interpretation requests.

Supports creation and continuous improvement of enterprise dangerous goods in transportation training for employees and managers.

Support enterprise Dangerous Goods audits, closure actions, and investigate dangerous goods compliance risks.

Perform performance-oriented packaging testing and design.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
1+ years of experience in dangerous goods, regulations, and assessments

1+ years of experience reading & interpreting engineering drawings and specifications

3+ years of experience working with Microsoft Office Products like Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word

3+ years of experience using professional written and verbal communication skills to achieve deliverables

Must be willing to travel domestically as needed

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Bachelor’s degree in related field

3+ years of experience with packaging or engineering

1+ years of experience analytical and design skills

1+ years of experience critical thinking and problem-solving skills

1+ years of experience working with CAD/CAM software

Typical

Education/Experience:
Associate (Level 2):
Typically 3 or more years’ related work experience or relevant military experience. Advanced degree (e.g. Bachelor, Master, etc.) preferred, but not required.
Mid-Level (Level 3):
Typically 6 or more years’ related work experience or relevant military experience. Advanced degree (e.g. Bachelor, Master, etc.) preferred, but not required.
Relocation:
Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
