Packaging Inspector

The Diez Group Kansas City performs warehousing, distribution, and production as a tier one manufacturing supplier of blanked material. We are looking for a Packaging Inspector to join our team. This position will focus on tasks involved in the quality of material delivered to and through the packaging process.

Summary/Objective
Diez Group Kansas City is a two (2) shift, facility specializing in steel and aluminum coil blanking to service the Automotive Stamping Industry. The Packaging Inspectors primary goal is to ensure that finished product meets established quality standards as received and packaged. This position is responsible for quality, rework, and throughput. 

Essential Functions

• Perform quality control of finished product.
• Ensure adherence to work instructions by      the packaging team.
• Log and record quality data into MIS      system.
• Place non-conforming material on hold.
• Escalate non-conforming issues to Quality      Coordinators, Production Supervisors, and Managers.
• Participate in root cause investigation of      issues with the Quality and Production teams.
• Act as a quality resource for the packaging      team.
• Direct rework activities for the packaging      team.
• Assist in the packaging of goods.
• Hand stack material coming off the      press machine if required.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized      work area throughout the facility by cleaning up debris.
• Continuous use of hand tools      such banders and crimpers.
• Continuous use of tape measures,      levels, and micrometers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

· All candidates must be able to work all shifts, Saturday, Sunday and overtime when needed

· Applicant must be able to pass physical exam and drug screen

· Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks at one time

· Adhere to attendance policy

· Computer skills

· Ability to train others 

· Ability to use measurement tools

· Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.

· Team player, self-starter, motivated.

· Adherence to the attendance policy

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have supervisory responsibility. 

Work Environment

This job operates in a heavy industrial steel / aluminum processing and distribution plant. While on the plant floor, Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is required.

Physical Demands

The employee is often required to stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds, with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday. Extended hours, nights and weekend work may be necessary based on business needs.

Travel

This position requires no regular and customary travel. 

Required Education and Experience

· HS diploma or GED required

· Previous experience in the manufacturing industry

· Previous quality inspection experience
