Job Description - Packaging Room Supervisor

Full-time Manual Packaging Supervisor


Monday to Friday - 3:00 am to 11:30 2nd shift.

Supervise the packaging room team members. To produce boxed and bagged kits of industrial fasteners by hand and in large volumes to accurate customer specifications. Selecting correct package sizes, and adding customer bespoke labeling. Repetitive workload in large volumes, some heavy lifting and standing for long periods, collating kits and packets, making up boxes, and packaging up pallets of product for delivery.

Frequency: - Majority of week is supervising team members, carrying out lifting heavy materials and remaining in a standing position at a workbench counting and selecting, bagging/boxing product with use of heavy duty stapler/sealer/pallet jack / and forming boxes


Duration of effort: - 100% effort required, standing for long periods, moving constantly, lifting constantly up to 50lbs, sealing bags, counting product, bending, leaning and reaching, measuring and lifting constantly



  • Mentors are Packaging Lead and/or Packaging Manager


Essential Functions of the Role


Main Job Overview may include:



  • Keeping area clear of product / packaging items not required to make the current kit in production

  • Assembling kits by hand in line with customer demand and ITP needs or as directed by the packaging lead

  • Selecting the correct product components to assemble kits accurately (kits are required to be 100% correct in every way)

  • Hold team members accountable. Lead, mentor, and follow p.

  • Counting and/or measuring the correct number of each part required for each kit by hand or by use of scales

  • Creating the number of kits required for each order

  • Assembling kits safely, accurately and productively in a fast paced environment which requires constant manual kit production

  • Creating kits in line with the productivity level and output expected of that particular kit

  • Double checking kits are correct with departmental QC processes and own double checking methods

  • Creating, selecting and applying correct labels to each kit for kit identification

  • Selection and use of correct box size / bag size / skin pack (or any other options taken by the customer) for each kit

  • Forming boxes and securing by staple or tape with gapless seals to create maximum kit containment and sturdiness

  • Seal bags and skin packs fully once packed to avoid spillage and kit containment

  • Create skin pack kits in line with design intended for each kit to create uniformity

  • Meet productivity levels as set by the packaging lead or packaging manager

  • Work on your own kit end to end or as part of a team effort on particular kits where you may just repetitively carry out one element of process such as making boxes / using the sealer or stapler / contributing 6 nuts

  • Achieve weekly/daily/monthly/annual sale’s targets and goals individually or as a team as set by your manager


Communications



  • May answer the internal department telephone, reply to internal emails, view documents on the department’s single PC.

  • In person communications with the departments employees, own manager and other ITP Brea employees

Personal Requirements:


REQUIRED:



  • Must be able to supervise team members

  • Competent in basic mental arithmetic

  • Must have capacity to learn products from visual and part number references

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs regularly throughout shift

  • Must be deadline and accuracy oriented

  • Team work ethic required

  • Can do positive attitude is a must


DESIRABLE



  • Experience of packing room and kitting operations

  • Experience in manufacturing industry


Job Type: Full-time
