Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Packaging/Payload Engineer and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Candidate will be responsible for performing detailed computational analysis in support of the SIMCO/NTP Packaging Group in the areas of payload analysis and packaging analysis. Perform engineering design and analysis of gas transport phenomena, evaluate new designs to meet TRU waste generator site packaging and payload needs. Assist in the areas of Type A payload containers, Type B Package components, Type B Package transport trailers and associated ancillary equipment to ensure that all applicable Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and/or Department of Transportation (DOT) and system design requirements have been met. Perform detailed analysis in support of the NRC licensing documents (SAR, TRAMPAC, etc.) for structural, thermal, shielding & payload initiatives.

Exempt grade level(s) 33-36. Salary range: $105,312 to $201,044 per year --the specific salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, particularly the candidate’s relevant experience and education.
