JOB TITLE: Padder
DEPARTMENT: Wood Shop
FLSA STATUS: Full\-Time, NonâExempt
SUMMARY:
The Padder is responsible for applying foam and soft padding to wood frames using water\-based adhesives, staple guns, and various hand tools. Reporting to the Wood Shop Supervisor or Assistant Supervisor, this role plays a key part in the upholstery preparation process and requires consistent attention to detail in a production environment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
⢠Receive frames from the framing department.
⢠Apply foam and padding to ensure complete coverage of each frame.
⢠Operate hand tools, staple guns, nail guns, and spray guns as required.
⢠Identify and report any rejected or defective parts.
⢠Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
⢠Skilled in using hand and power tools, including staple, nail, and spray guns.
⢠Ability to work independently and adapt to changing production schedules.
⢠Collaborative mindset for cross\-departmental teamwork.
⢠Strong attention to detail and quality.
⢠Comfortable working in varying temperature environments.
⢠Able to meet strict production deadlines.
⢠Capable of lifting at least 30 lbs.
⢠Must follow all safety protocols and use required PPE.
EFFORT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
⢠Continuous standing for up to 8 hours per shift.
⢠Frequent lifting, turning, bending, pushing, leaning, and twisting throughout the shift.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
⢠At least six months of production experience.
⢠Ability to read and interpret diagrams and technical drawings.
