License Needed:

NH licensed candidates are preferred due to full payor enrollment and credentialing timeframe.

  • Candidates with a permanent NH license (already) are much preferred; makes process far more efficient for all.

  • Candidates who will apply for a permanent NH nurse practitioner license are acceptable. Board of Nursing does not grant locum licenses to nurse practitioners. Moreover, licenses of other statuses (temporary, emergency) are NOT acceptable to AVH.

  • If a candidate has a compact license in another state, it still requires about 4 weeks to obtain a NH nurse practitioner license. (Such candidate would retain his/her RN license in state of issuance/residence.)

  • If a candidate does not have a compact license in another state, processing of a NH permanent nurse practitioner license currently takes up to 3 months, based on limited staff at such state offices.

Background check and fingerprinting are components of the licensing process in NH. These two steps sometimes cause undesirable delays. Subpar quality fingerprints are often rejected by the state. These steps must be done promptly and accurately by a nurse practitioner candidate.
