Job Description - Paint Department Lead


MWG is looking to add a Paint Department Lead to our Pippin location!

JOB SUMMARY: 
This position holds responsibility for leading all aspects of production, including safety, quality, productivity, and schedule adherence within the dept.  The job holder is a key member of the production team with strong focus on meeting or exceeding the daily production goals. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure quality of the painting process.
  • Run the paint booth and have full understanding of the powder coating techniques and equipment. This includes the cleaning and monitoring of equipment.
  • Set, monitor, and operate both ovens (dry off and bake), and the wash system.
  • Perform PM procedures as assigned.
  • Accurately record and document powder usage at the end of each production run.
  • Oversee labor reporting.
  • Optimize the painting process to its fullest to improve throughput and increase efficiencies.
  • Perform changeovers properly and in a timely manner.
  • Report any and all maintenance related issues as they occur.
  • Any and all other responsibilities set forth by supervisor.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The employee in this role will be working indoors, in an industrial manufacturing environment.  The employee will regularly be exposed to noise levels requiring hearing protection, moving equipment and mechanical parts. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Experience:
    1. Five years’ experience in powder coating.
    2. Experience managing wash systems.
    3. Experience setting bake & dry-off ovens.
    4. Experienced in powder coating quality requirements.
    5. Prior supervision, or leadership experience.
    6. Familiarity with ERP systems.
    7. Microsoft Office experience.
    8. Technical/mechanical aptitude.
  2. Education:  High School graduate or equivalent.
