Paint Prep

Job purpose

The purpose of this position is to support the paint team with prepping parts for paint.

Duties and responsibilities

• Inspect panels to be painted for body repair, prepping and/or buffing defect
• Any necessary prepping work before paint process
• Sand, Wash, and Tape
• Perform other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor, i.e., provide technical assistance to helpers, orient and train new employees, etc
• May be required to work overtime (more than 40 hours per week) as business needs dictate
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment, maintains and wears all required personal protective safety equipment.

Qualifications

• Basic paint prepping skills and knowledge of metal/industrial painting
• Mechanical skills are a huge plus!
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly
• Ability to work full-time plus overtime

Working conditions

This job operates in a fabrication shop and may be completed in a confined area subject to loud noise. Full time work and overtime is expected per business needs. This job is routinely around paints and chemicals that will require PPE.

Physical requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their fingers and hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. This position is very active, and the employee frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift/ or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
