Paint Prep Tech - Used Equipment

SUMMARY

The Paint Prep technician receives equipment to be cleaned and prepared for the paint process. Quality check finished product.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Prepare equipment and other components for painting by removing paint, rust, grease, dirt and other debris from surfaces to be painted using steam cleaner, abrasives, solvents, and brushes. Fill cavities and dents in equipment to create an even surface, mask or tape-off details and components to avoid contamination. Quality checks all completed work.

SKILLS/RESPONSIBILITIES

? Ability to balance work load and stay on schedule to meet production deadlines.

? Ability to operate hand grinder and palm sander proficiently and safely. 

? Ability to operate a steam cleaner proficiently and safely. 

? Ability to perform basic body work using fillers/body tools. 

? Ability to properly cover and tape equipment to protect components from contamination. 

? Maintain a clean and organized work area, creating a safe working environment in the paint department. Observe and assist in enforcement of safety rules and regulations. 

? Inform Shop Foreman or Service Manager of any accidents in the Paint Department.

? Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. (and occasionally in excess of 50 lbs.)

? Must be able to be properly fitted and safely wear a respiratory when needed.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Paint and body repair skills with basic mechanical ability. At least 1-2 years previous experience preferred.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma/GED

Must be a Certified Forklift operator (can be obtained once employment begins)
