Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Vehicle Preparation:
- Assist in disassembling and masking vehicles before painting.
- Use sanders, grinders, and other tools to prepare surfaces for paint application.
- Clean surfaces thoroughly to remove dust, grease, and contaminants.
- Paint Mixing and Application:
- Help mix paints and primers according to specifications.
- Assist the collision painter in applying paint, ensuring even coverage and adherence to quality standards.
- Learn and apply various painting techniques and methods as instructed.
- Equipment Maintenance:
- Clean spray guns, brushes, and other painting equipment after use.
- Assist in maintaining and troubleshooting painting equipment as needed.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations regarding paint and chemical disposal.
- Quality Control:
- Inspect painted surfaces for quality and report defects to the painter.
- Assist in performing touch-ups and corrections as directed.
- Communication and Teamwork:
- Collaborate effectively with the collision painter and other team members.
- Communicate any issues, concerns, or suggestions to the supervisor promptly.
- Monitor the whiteboard and promptly move magnets as vehicle status changes.
Performance Expectations:
- Arrive on time and prepared for each shift.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and take direction from the collision painter.
- Show initiative in assisting with tasks and maintaining a productive workflow.
- Exhibit a positive attitude and a commitment to teamwork.
- Complete assigned tasks efficiently and to the best of your ability, ensuring high-quality results.
Accountability:
- The Painter’s Helper is expected to take ownership of assigned tasks, meet deadlines, and uphold the standards of the organization. Regular performance evaluations will be conducted to assess adherence to these responsibilities and overall contributions to the team. Failure to meet these expectations may result in additional training or disciplinary action.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of related experience
- Must be a team player and have a professional attitude - culture is everything!
- Strong work ethic with a willingness to adapt and learn
- Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift more than 50lbs without assistance
- Must be able to get into and out of various vehicles without assistance.
- Must be able to drive a motor vehicle with passengers.
- Must be able to walk / stand for 90% of the day.
- Must be able to work in various weather conditions.
