Painter

Paints interior and exterior of campus buildings, facilities and equipment; Repairs and installs drywall, tape, and finish.

This is a full time, benefits eligible, hourly position with a hiring range of $24.47-$30.59 per hour.

Core Responsibilities:

• Paints interior and exterior of buildings, facilities and equipment, preparing properly and using appropriate equipment.  
• Tapes sheetrock walls, plastering and sanding when needed; refinishes furniture.  
• Paints signs and sets up vinyl letter signs; varnishes floors, cabinets and doors; assist with miscellaneous carpentry projects as necessary.  
• Procures materials and tools and delivers them to the job site; cleans tools/equipment daily at end of work shift.  
• Performs associated Facilities Services maintenance work as requested, including but not limited to: snow removal, event set-up and clean up, truck loading and unloading and grounds maintenance.  
• Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors  
• Performs all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with Middlebury College and departmental policies and procedures.  

• High school diploma or equivalent; On-the-job or vocational training in use of painting equipment.  
• Knowledge of paint types, mixing, prepping, and painting; general carpentry experience preferred.  
• Minimum 2 years previous experience painting, drywall, and wallpapering preferred.  
• Must have valid driver's license, clean driving record, and own vehicle for transportation of self, tools and for procuring small materials.  

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Requires long periods of time standing, frequent bending, twisting and reaching, especially overhead. Involves frequent ladder and stair climbing.
