Painter / Blaster

Meyer Utility Structures is searching for an industrial painter for 1st shift in our Gadsden, AL manufacturing plant. As a Painter at Meyer, you will prepare materials, surfaces, and structures for coverage with paint, laminate, rubber, or other materials. The Painter will apply coatings to specifications and complete detailed special applications, as appropriate, to surface and final product requirements.

What You’ll Do:

• Assures surfaces meet required blast profiles.
• Mixes paints/coatings per specifications.
• Operates conventional and airless spray equipment to apply primers, intermediate and final coatings in alkyds, epoxies and water borne paint systems.
• Tests millage of coatings (wet and dry).
• Oils and cleans pumps.
• Cleans paint lines and paint guns and performs other cleaning/preventative maintenance to ensure that painting apparatus remain in working order.
• Consistently achieves proper dry film thickness and defect-free paint jobs with no holidays, pinholes, sags, runs or orange peel.

What You’ll Need:

• Experience performing splicing and feathering processes to meet quality standards.
• Successful experience applying all kinds of coatings and applying prime and finish coats on industrial products.
• Experience reading and successfully interpreting general notes on drawings.
• Thorough knowledge of safety and paint equipment including sizing tips, pump pressures, re-coat times and effects of weather on any applicable paint system.
• The ability to maintain reliable and predictable good attendance.
• A high level of dependability, a great attitude, and an ability to work well with a team towards achieving a common goal.
