Painter (Broussard, LA)

Job Summary:
The Painter is responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing metal components with precision and attention to detail, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards. This role is critical in maintaining the aesthetics, durability, and compliance of finished products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, and applying primer as necessary.
• Apply coatings, paint, or other finishes to metal components using spray guns, brushes, or rollers.
• Monitor coating application to ensure even coverage and compliance with specifications.
• Inspect painted components for quality, ensuring there are no defects or inconsistencies.
• Maintain and clean painting equipment regularly to ensure optimal functionality.
• Mix paints and coatings to achieve the desired color or consistency as required by project specifications.
• Document paint usage and completed tasks for tracking and reporting purposes.
• Follow workplace safety guidelines, including proper ventilation, handling of chemicals, and use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to prioritize tasks and meet production schedules.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (certifications in industrial painting or coatings preferred).
• 1+ year of experience in painting or coating, preferably in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment.
• Knowledge of painting techniques, tools, and equipment.
• Ability to work with various coatings and chemicals safely and effectively.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finishes.
• Physical stamina and dexterity to perform repetitive tasks and handle heavy materials.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

• Frequent standing, bending, and lifting of materials up to 50 pounds.
• Regular exposure to fumes, chemicals, noise, and airborne particles in a manufacturing setting.  
• Ability to wear required protective gear, such as gloves, goggles, respirators, and steel-toed boots.
