Job Description

JOB TITLE: Pallet Jack Operator

Summary of duties: the duties below will be further described throughout this job description.

• They will be brining caps and liner from the Warehouse to the Lining department to make finished product. • They will need to use scanner and pallet jack. • They will also bring finished back to the Warehouse from Lining Dept. • Need to communicate with Leads, supervisors, and Warehouse staff. • Ability to read Lining Schedule and labels (this is in English)

 

Essential functions:

• Work safely at all times • Maintain 5S and participate in continuous improvement efforts • Responsible for timely delivery and removal of caps to lining machines • Coordinates with lining supervisor machine operators and cap dropper to deliver caps to the machines that are running during the shift • Can identify different types of caps and sizes • Stages materials for machines that will be running next, and back up machines • Stages caps at machines prior to the next shift coming in to facilitate a smooth shift change • Removes lined caps from machines and brings them to the warehouse staging areas • Depending on work load and # of operators being serviced, will help operators load hoppers on faster running machines, i.e. LM028 • Communicates well with operators, to ensure material is delivered to machines before machine stops for lack of material • Removes empty pallets from machine areas • Removes gay lords from lining department and brings to recycling staging area (caps and webbing) • Maintains inventory accuracy of caps going into and out of lining inventory locations • Can identify and correct any errors made during the labeling or consumption processes • Maintains the charging of electric pallet jack and daily inspections • Can use a scanner • Can identify Quality and continuous improvements opportunities • Support team members as needed • Seek out assistance from direct supervisor/manager as needed • Be RESULTS oriented

 

  • JOB TYPE: Temporary with a 6-month probation period, and full time permanent after those 6 months.
  • WAGE PER HOUR: Day Shift: $17.00/hour; and Night Shift: $19.00/hour.
  • SHIFTS: will be assigned upon availability and company needs. Must be willing and available to change shifts. - A and B are morning shifts; and - C and B are night shifts.
  • HOURS PER WEEK: - Week 1: 47 hours; and - Week 2: 36 hours.
  • OVER TIME: as many as they want and available once trained. Training lasts approximately 2 weeks. On the week they have 47 hours, they are paid for 7 hours of OT.
  • WORKWEEK: Sunday is the start day, the factory works all week, every week has a different work schedule. - Day Shift: 6:45am-7:00pm; and - Night Shift: 6:45pm-7:00am. - Week 1: with 2 days on, 2 days off, and 3 days on. With 47 hours in total; and - Next Week: with 2 days off, 2 days on and 3 days off. With 36 hours total.
  • CAN THEY WORK EXTRA DAYS: yes HOW OFTEN WILL THEY WORK EXTRA DAYS: as often as needed
  • WILL THEY WORK WEEKENDS? Yes
  • PAYMENT DAYS: Weekly - Thursday
  • PAYMENT TYPE: Either direct deposit or check.
  • BREAK TIMES: 1/2-hour lunch and three 15 min breaks.
  • JOB START DATE: As soon as possible.
  • JOB END DATE: 6 months after first day of employment or permanent.

Qualifications

Position requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED • Experience and general knowledge of lining Procedures preferred • Demonstrated equivalent education and experience will be considered • Good attendance and punctuality. • B2 English- Intermediate. Must be able to write and read.

Food Safety Responsibilities:

o Monitors and verifies activities to ensure that finished goods and raw materials are coming in and out of the facility meet consumer safety and quality standards. o Complies with all company food safety and quality assurance procedures o Reports any product or process failures that could impact food safety of manufactured products to the location’s Food Safety Team Leader and submits an appropriate incident report

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties, the employee will be working on a manufacturing/ production floor. Employee will be required to wear steel toe shoes when operating the electric pallet jack. . The employee is required to sit and/or stand for computer or floor responsibilities, reach with hands and arms and handle objects and other tools, stoop, squat, twist, push and pull, maintain balance, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distances, and climb stairs. Employees may be required to lift up to 20 pounds.

Additional Information

EQUIPMENT AND APPAREL COMPANY UNIFORMS:

Company T-shirt will be provided. SAFETY APPAREL: Employees must remove all visible jewelry; employees are provided a hairnet and safety glasses and hearing protection which has to be worn at all times in production areas. Employee will be required to wear steel toe shoes when operating the electric pallet jack. Employer can provide them a shoe voucher or reimburse up to $125.00 for shoes, with receipt.

 

FLIGHT TRANSPORTATION

  • PAID FLIGHT TO BUSINESS LOCATION: Employer will pay cost and then deduct from pay and reimburse at day 90.
  • AIRPORT OF ARRIVAL: Burlington, VT
  • PAID FLIGHT HOME: Yes, if they complete their 6-month period, and they are in good standing with the company with attendance, behavior, and performance.
  • TRAVEL FOOD EXPENSE COVERED: Yes - up to $30 per day (A ONE TIME stipend from the day the worker travels from the place of recruitment to the place of employment)
  • GROCERY STIPEND: Yes – a one-time $100 stipend.

 

WORKPLACE TRANSPORTATION

  • TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM WORKSITE: The company has secured a van service that travels between the workplace and location, there is no cost to the employee.
  • FOR HOW LONG IS TRANSPORTATION PROVIDED? Free as long as under contract
  • ADDITIONAL TRANSPORTATION: Urban area, taxis/uber available, can walk to town, public buses are available.

 

JOB INCENTIVES - Seasonal guest workers won’t have benefits such as health, medical, dental, etc. - They will have 36 hours of Sick time front-loaded (Sick only, no PTO) - No Paid Time Off - PTO. *** But, if they stay after the first 6 months, we then change to Full time benefit status, and then they will get the below benefits:

  • WORKER COMPENSATION INSURANCE: Yes
  • 401K: Yes
  • HEALTHCARE INSURANCE: Medical available first of the month after hire, employee pays approx. $40-45 per week depending on coverage
  • PAID HOLIDAYS: Yes, available upon hire, all major holidays
  • PTO: It is prorated based on how many weeks they work, so it would depend on when the individual starts working.

 

HOUSING

  • HOUSING TYPE: apartments assigned upon availability and amenities can change from each location. A) Village Reinassance Suits: a 4 bedroom apartment with personal bathroom/shower and a personal minifridge. Common areas to cook and eat. B) Broad Street Commons: a 4 bedroom apartment with 2 bathroom/shower and a common refrigerator, and common area to cook and eat.
  • INDIVIDUAL OR SHARED ROOMS: Individual
  • RENT PER PERSON: paycheck deducted. • 0 - 6 months – $34.81 per week • 6 - 12 months – $86.53 per week • 12 - + months – $173.08 per week
  • HOW LONG IS HOUSING PROVIDED: As long as they are under contract. Conditions may vary after the end of their contract if worker stays in employment and upon company needs.
