Pallet Rack Installer / Installation Technician (Warehouse Racking & Shelving)

Position Summary

J & J Companies is seeking a dependable and motivated Pallet Rack Installer / Installation Technician to join our growing team. This position is responsible for installing, modifying, repairing, and dismantling pallet racking, industrial shelving, mezzanines, wire partitions, and other warehouse storage systems at customer facilities.

Most projects are completed within a 100-mile radius of Columbia, PA, with approximately 20% overnight travel for larger regional projects. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on work, is mechanically inclined, works well as part of a team, and is committed to delivering quality workmanship while maintaining a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Install pallet rack systems, industrial shelving, cantilever racks, and warehouse storage equipment.


• Read and interpret installation drawings, layouts, and work orders.


• Assemble and secure racking systems using hand and power tools.


• Anchor racking to concrete floors and ensure installations meet manufacturer specifications.


• Perform rack modifications, relocations, repairs, and teardown projects.


• Safely load, unload, and organize materials, tools, and equipment.


• Maintain a clean and organized job site.


• Follow OSHA safety regulations and company safety procedures.


• Communicate professionally with customers and project managers.


• Travel to customer locations throughout Pennsylvania and surrounding states as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in pallet rack installation, commercial construction, warehouse equipment installation, carpentry, steel erection, or related trades is a plus.


• Mechanical aptitude and ability to safely use hand and power tools.


• Ability to read a tape measure and follow installation drawings.


• Comfortable working at heights using ladders, lifts, and elevated work platforms.


• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work throughout the day.


• Valid driver's license.


• Forklift & scissor lift experience is a plus (training is provided).


• Reliable transportation to our Columbia, PA location and/or directly to jobsites.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.


• Stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work overhead for extended periods.


• Safely work on elevated platforms.
