Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell is looking for a highly motivated individual to join her team as a Paralegal in the Office’s False Claims Division.


 


The False Claims Division investigates fraudulent business conduct and brings enforcement actions under the Massachusetts False Claims Act (G.L. c. 12, § 5A et seq.) against companies and individuals in diverse industries, including technology, transportation, environmental, housing, public construction, health care and pandemic-related assistance programs, among others.  Cases require coordination with state, local, and federal authorities and involve matters of public interest and social justice, as well as challenging and complex enforcement initiatives.


 


Primary Duties: The Paralegal provides investigation and litigation support to the False Claims Division and works closely with Division attorneys and staff on a wide variety of matters. The Paralegal will have the opportunity to be a key member of and contributor to investigations teams.


 


Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:



  • Organizing and maintaining files, including all e-discovery and hotline complaints/intakes.

  • Reviewing discovery materials and conducting legal research to support case development.

  • Assisting with deposition, court, and trial preparation.

  • Preparing various monthly, quarterly and annual reports and assisting with data tracking.

  • Supporting the implementation and presentation of Division priorities.

  • Communicating with complainants, whistleblowers and witnesses.

  • Drafting correspondence, creating various memos, and other written work products.

  • Performing other duties as assigned.


 


Position Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (including word processing, database, and spreadsheet software programs), and ability to learn software applications used in legal settings.

  • Ability to multitask and demonstrate proficient time-management skills in handling several objectives concurrently.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality on all matters handled by the Division.

  • Excellent work ethic, great attention to detail, and a desire to work in the public interest.

Position Type: Full-Time/Non-Exempt


 


Our current hybrid model includes some remote workdays for most positions. On in-office days,


employees are required to report to one of our designated office locations, either in Boston or at a


regional office.


 


Salary: $55,375
