Job Summary
A Paramedic will be to the Crew Chief on duty and be responsible to the Ambulance Director while on duty in the hospital. Paramedic functioning in a pre-hospital setting is responsible for following physician orders regarding care of the patient(s). Paramedics that are Crew Chiefs are responsible for following physician’s standing orders and/or the Emergency Room Physician orders. The Paramedic is responsible on a shift to shift and on-call basis for the pre-hospital and general patient care provided under the Idaho EMS guidelines and hospital policy. The areas of responsibility are divided into four functional areas:

FIRST PRIORITY IS TO THE AMBULANCE TO MAKE SURE IT IS STOCKED AND MAINTAINED.
1. Start un-medicated intravenous fluids within the hospital with accurate documentation of same, as agreed upon in the written contract between the hospital and EMS.
2. Assist in assessment of patient in the emergency department with documentation on ER records, in accordance with emergency room policies and scope of practice, e.g., information regarding complaint, vital signs, and observations, however, the RN must still make an entry in the record or his/her assessment.
